Munchys
Munchys on First St near McKinley. My girlfriend at the time used to work there. This is about 1971 and 1972. The hamburgers were I think 19 cents and at the end of the day they would have extras. She would bring 2 or 3 bags out at the end of the day and we would take them home. They didnt taste very good but they were cheap or free.

Munchy's Burger
Anyone remember Munchy's on 1st street in Mayfair? We'd ride our bikes from 1st and Ashlan with a quarter in hand. We were able to buy a burger, soda, and fries. The patty was as thick as a slice of lunch meat. I believe it also had the first self serve soda fountain. Good times!

Re: Munchies Burger
I lived just south of Mckinley off of First so it was a short trip for me. I recall they had a room for pinball etc. Someone else had a post under burger joints I believe.

Re: Munchies Burger
That sounds a lot like the burgers at Norm's at Palm and Shields near where I grew up. People would joke about the contest to see who could actually find the meat in a Norm's burger. But I guess that explains in part why obesity was not the problem then that it is now! I also remember people debating about who had the best fries, Norm's or McDonald's. The McDonald's on Blackstone near Shields was the first one opened by Ray Kroc outside of Illinois. I think everyone thought it was just a locally-owned business like Norm's. No one dreamed what McDonald's would become.

Growing up in the Mayfair area, we went there all the time.

Re: Munchies Burger
Was this a local chain, or did they have them outside of Fresno?
