Mayfair Shopping Center - Surprising History

~
Do you remember the Country Boys Market with its wooden floors? Walter Smiths was the place to go for clothes on the Fulton Mall. Penny Candy had great blacklight posters and don't forget Whitie's Pet Store on Blackstone. What vintage retail do you remember growing up in Fresno?

Don't forget that Doug Hansen (Fresno local artist) devoted a page to the Mayfair Shopping Center in his Fresno Funnies #2 comics.

Wow, the memories! My Mom took me to a dentist that lined the backside of the Ivory Tower. There was about 20 or so offices in that parking lot.

Anyone remember the name of the dentist that was in the Mayfair shopping center? Many years ago, like in the year 2000, I was able to enter that dentist office, and all the buildings were completely abandoned. The dentist chair was still there and everything…

Mayfair shopping center. I remember well. Potter drug store, Lester Burger , the bike shop. I crossed the wooden bridge everyday to attend school. Mayfair Elementary 74-76. We lived on Arden Drive S. They dug out the canal one and played in those large piles of dirt everyday. I delivered the Fresno bee at that time . Paper was delivered after school back then.
