~
Come back with us now to those hot summer nights when half of Fresno's teens were driving up and down Belmont. Or remember what it was like on Fulton St. before Belmont took the title of "Fresno's Main Drag" Remember the Rainbow Ballroom? Post you night life memories here.

I searched my dad Ron Pearson on Google and found this! It warms my heart to see that people remember him and talk about him. He was my everything. To the person who was sad to see his obituary...thank you. He truley was an amazing man and the best father. I miss him every day. I was born in 1969 and remember playing out in front of the Chateau and the Circle.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I remember going to the Chateau even before we were 21. There was an older lady at the door we called her grandma and she always let us in. I remember one night in particular. My best friend hooked me up with her cousin who had just got out of the Pen. I was in love. I loved bad boys. I remember we went to the Chateau and I got drunk on Harvey Wallbangers. I really thought I was something because of who I was with, we had a long lasting relationship which turned into friendship. Uncortunatly he passed away last summer. We did have some good times.

I've turned up lots of 60s-70s Fresno music blogs in the past few days but I can't tell if any of them are still active. Love the comments. Ron Drioane was the drummer in the Chandells but I don't think he made the transition to the Children. If memory serves, (a questionable proposition) Tony Catino took over on drums. I played bass in a band with Ron and some of the former Shaymen a few years later.

Never was in group with him but I palled around with Stan Herzog for a year in college and took keyboard lessons from. Duane Scott. Those were great times, but from what I can tell from a distance Fresno has a pretty respectable music scene going nowadays too.

Ron Pearson and the Ron Dons were huge locally in the 70's. After Ron closed "The Place" on Whitesbridge Avenue, he opened another smaller club on East Belmont called The Chateau. It had a waterfall in the front that was made from coral. I know because one Saturday night after walking out of the club with friends, I climbed on top of it and fell off. Shredded my leg. Oh the memories!! I read he passed away some years ago. Those were the days of Ara's Apartments at Weber and Clinton. Ara Arax owned it and it became a bit of a biker bar. Ara was a great gentleman and was murdered during a "robbery gone bad." His son Mark is an author and wrote a book about it called "In My Fathers Name." A great read if you remember those times. We had the best music!! I miss those days.

I think Ara also had a club on Maroa and Princeton. Lots of action in the early 70s. Dance contests on Wed nights.

Ron lived next door to me. I remember his house being robbed . They took everything out of the house. I was the drummer for the cindermen at the time.

Let's give some the Cinderman some love here at Lost Fresno. An original Fresno band that cut some singles! And hey, they even knew Ron Pearson!

I knew Ron Pearson. I was keyboardist with a band called The Third Chapter, which included Ron Haskins on sax and Jeff Ball on drums. We played The Shalimar and The Point After from 1970 to '75. I remember Ron at The Place, The Circle, and The Chateau. Those were great days. Lots of live music at clubs in those days.
