Some Restaurants I Remember

Pulling into the Mars Drive-in for a Lime Rickey. Ordering up a burger from the car hop at the A&W on Blackstone. Checking out the action at Bob's Big Boy. Your favorite grilled cheese sandwich at the Woolworths Counter. Don't forget loading up at Perry Boys Smorgy. What eats do you miss?

In the mid to late 1950s there was Dee's Steak House on Van Ness. Strike a memory with anyone?

La-Ma-Joon Kitchen on Butler Ave east of the old Sunmaid plant. Best lamajoon and yalanchi. Opened in the 60's, but closed for many years now.

I remember the Chuckwagon Restaurant! We moved to Fresno in 1959 from Reno Nevada (another GREAT town to grow up in back then) and the first night we were in town we had dinner there. My sister Barb fell asleep in her chair slumped over in her mashed potatoes and gravy.

La Fonda Mexican Restaurant (as Al Radka would say, "you'll be fonda La Fonda!).

Mello Ice Cream shop. I'm not certain of the location, maybe near Roeding park. Al Radka would say at the end of the Mello commercial "Get Mello Fellow."

I remember all of these restaurants. Got my first Golden Retriever from Dee Tersian owner of Dee's, in 1967. Regarding the Velvet Turtle, once it closed, what did it become? Thanks!
