Chauncey's Bar & Grill Restaurant

Do you remember the Country Boys Market with its wooden floors? Walter Smiths was the place to go for clothes on the Fulton Mall. Penny Candy had great blacklight posters and don't forget Whitie's Pet Store on Blackstone. What vintage retail do you remember growing up in Fresno?

Chauncey's Bar & Grill Restaurant

Back in the early 1970s in Fresno, a new mall was built called "Fashion Fair" Mall. I was a college student putting myself through college. Besides going to College, I worked as a waitress for Chauncey's in 1970s at Chauncey's Bar & Grill Restaurant (located inside the Fashion Fair Mall). The best waitress job I ever had. The managers were "Walt" and "Jerry". They were very good managers. I was attending Fresno State College (University of California in Fresno). Chauncey's was located 2 doors down from "Hickory Farm". Hickory Farms sold Cheeses and Sausages etc. Chauncey's was a very upscale, clean, classy bar and grill restaurant in the mall. The customers mostly are businessmen at lunch hours and dinner time. The bar tender was "Sam" the Italian singer and wonderful bartender. Full time waitress were "Betty" and "Alice". My greatest admiration go to the Managers (Walt and Jerry). They were the best managers I ever worked for. I quit when I was in my early 20s when I married my husband who worked as New Anchorman for KMJ TV. He got a new job offer in Florida at a bigger TV station. I had to move with him (my new husband). I really missed working for Chauncey's. ***** I evaluated my entire career now 50 years after I left Chauncey's Bar & Grill Restaurant. The best job I ever had and the best supporting staff was at Chauncey's. I graduated from College with my Bachelor's degree and worked for University, Big corporation, and the government and made great money all over the United States. When I retired I lived at various cities and states. I decided to move back to Fresno after leaving Fresno for over 50 years. Amazing Amazing!
