Whitie's Pet Store on Blackstone

Can't forget what I never knew. In my childhood (a long time ago) Whitie's was a small shop on Ventura. It was old and creaky but crammed with cool stuff for pets. By the way, someone should create a whole category of reminiscences of old Ventura Boulevard. There was a tiny old Safeway with board floors I remember from the 1950s. Lots of independent retailers of clothing, appliances, furniture, groceries, and--for some reason--more than a couple of stores selling second hand and antique wares.
