Head Hunter Barber shop

When I was a teen, I biked over to the Cedar Lanes Shopping Center on Cedar and Shields to get my hair cut. The place I went to was next to the little cinema called "Head Hunter Barber". The name always cracked me up, but they took my money anyway. On a recent visit to the old stomping grounds, I was surprised to see the sign still there looking exactly like it did 40 years ago. Alas, the inside of the shop was empty, most likely abandoned long ago. Are there any other Head Hunter past victims out there?

Yeah, back in the day (when that sign was made) us hippies were always being hassled about our hair. And a common slur to us was "get a haircut". I think that is where they were going with the tag line on that sign.

Doug, the son of the owner, cut my hair there in high school.

My Uncle {Bill} John Reynolds RIP owned Headhunter in the 80's, I believe he bought it from his father in law, Jody Pease. Doug Pease is Jody's son.
I used to get my hair cut there when i was a kid. Uncle John sold it after Cedar Lanes was shut down . now its a Wal Mart. There was a porn shop next to it that I bought the magazine racks from when it closed down , to use for records when Stage Dive records opened up in 85. Uncle John was a great guy , one of the nicest guys in the world.
