The Great Hot Dog Experience

Pulling into the Mars Drive-in for a Lime Rickey. Ordering up a burger from the car hop at the A&W on Blackstone. Checking out the action at Bob's Big Boy. Your favorite grilled cheese sandwich at the Woolworths Counter. Don't forget loading up at Perry Boys Smorgy. What eats do you miss?

The Great Hot Dog Experience

Post by Big J » Tue Mar 08, 2011 3:43 pm

This was one of my favorite places when I was a kid - it was in Fashion Fair mall, in one of the spots that's a jewelry store now, across and down a door from the old SF Music Box Shop. Anyone else remember eating there? I've never been able to figure out if it was local or a chain or what.

Yes!! I know what you're talking about. Mid-1980's, Montgomeryville Mall, Pennsylvania had this. I would always get their "Pepperoni Dog", which was a hot dog with mozzerella cheese, pizza sauce, and pepperoni slices. After putting the toppings on, they would put it in a steamer for about 30 seconds so that the cheese would melt. BEST THING EVER TO DO WITH A HOT DOG!! Somebody needs to resurrect this concept!
