Some Restaurants I Remember

~
Pulling into the Mars Drive-in for a Lime Rickey. Ordering up a burger from the car hop at the A&W on Blackstone. Checking out the action at Bob's Big Boy. Your favorite grilled cheese sandwich at the Woolworths Counter. Don't forget loading up at Perry Boys Smorgy. What eats do you miss?

I remember them well! Used to go there often on my lunch hour and loved their food. The proprietors were so nice, too.

The Desert Inn on Whitesbridge Road - Back in 1957, while accompanying my parents and my new husband, I remember us pausing to view the Sputnik satellite orbiting overhead in the night sky just prior to entering the restaurant. I'll never forget it. A historical moment in time which I will never forget!

Does any one remember The Iran restaurant? I can't remember the location, but I think it was southeast of town. Maybe near Butler Ave., but not sure. The Armenian cuisine was fantastic and we ate there quite often. It was quite popular, but closed possibly due to owner's retirement.

Coney Island, The Old Fresno Houfbrau, and now we can add the Silver Dollar Hofbrau to the departed...Also Johnny's Market had a great little lunch restaurant in it along Weber near the Southern Pacific office

White Castle burgers on Blackstone around Bulldog donuts or maybe closer to McKinley. Don't remember if on the East or West side of Blackstone. Anyone remember where it was East side or West?

It was on Tulare Street next to Mayfair Market, Sees Candy, and the Farmers Market others have mentioned. Never ate there. Our family shopped at Mayfair, and occasionally picked up some calzones in the Farmers Market.
