I used to Bounce at Apple Eddies in the early 80's. I started about the time Bob Rains(sp) and Tootski were ending their run. There were a few good local groups I got to hear, don't remember one name of any band. Only had to throw one guy out in 2 years, 2 death threats and one guy with a lazer pointer that I thought was going to be a saw off shot gun! That was the start of my Phd studies in drugs and alcohol!

Does anyone remember Ara's Apartments?? {I don't, but have become curious about it while reading Mark Arax's book "In my Father's Name" which is in the main about the unsolved murder of his father, who owned the bar. He describes in considerable detail the location of the place (near the Clinton Ave Hwy 99 overpass--an area I knew well but, not being a "bar person", have no recollection of this establishment)}.
Though I was still living in Fresno at the time of the murder (January, 1972) I don't remember hearing or reading about it, and only became aware of it through discovering the writing of Mark Arax.
Anyway, this was evidently a popular place; someone reading this forum must have some recall. Comments, please!

My wife and I worked as a duo at The Keyboard Lounge for about year from '81 to '82. The place had previously been named The Point After, where I played keyboard with The Third Chapter. Prior to that, it was called The Casual.sjvalleydave wrote: ↑Mon Mar 12, 2012 3:33 pmI will just throw some names out there: Frontier Club, Jim's Place, The Skyline Club, DJ's and Inkahoots in Clovis. The Refectory, Velvet Turtle/Scoreboard, Inkahoots2, The Stardust, Wilikers, Sari's Red Carpet, The Keyboard Lounge, numerous Ewell's that are gone (know a few are left), The Pub, Tarpey Tavern, Club Casino, The Palace, Knock Three Times, The Copper Pot, Porky's/Woody's/Fresno Feed and Fuel, The DeMarquis, Fran's Covered Wagon are just a few that I remember being in or hearing about. And the we had the topless HipHugger, another strip club, I think on Belmont near the circle and one that was way north on Golden State Blvd..
