Burn Barrels

Does anyone remember burning the trash? Everyone had a 55 gallon drum in the backyard to burn trash. Unheard of today! The real thrill was throwing the occasional aerosol can in the fire and waiting for the explosion. I remember my dad put ventilation holes in the bottom of the barrel with a rifle(!). It was pretty effective, unless a neighbor decided to burn some wet trash that would smolder all day long...

What Was His Real Name?
This restaurateur was known in the 1950's as "Tom the Greek." He owned a restaurant in downtown Fresno for many years. It was located next to the "Builders Exchange" office (don't know the address). Does anyone know anything about this man or his restaurant?
