Kratt Elementary-1981-1988
Tenaya Middle School-1988-1990
Bullard High School-1990-1994
Fresno State-1994-1999

I'm no longer in Fresno, but I'd say that I received a fairly good education-I'm now a doctoral student in a highly-ranked program at a very good university. I wouldn't have gotten this far if I wasn't properly educated. It just goes to show that Fresno Unified isn't as horrible as some people like to believe.

Although I didn't realize it at the time, I ended up going to a magical, beautiful set of 3 public schools growing up in Fresno.

Heaton Elementary on McKinley, 1960-1966; this was just a few blocks from the Fresno City College of that era and all those beautiful brick buildings.
Hamilton Jr. High on Clinton, 1967-1969, located on what I think is the one hill in Fresno, and with the amazing Schlein Park, just for 9th graders.
Fresno High, 1970-1973, yes, we watched it begin to be torn down at the end of our sophomore year. But I had grown up just a few blocks away, and we played all the time on those huge lawns out in front; that was basically our neighborhood playground for years growing up.

Our family moved there in 1965 when I was 14. (From Marin County, Ca.). Went to:

1. Tenaya Jr. High
2. Bullard High School Class of 1969.
3. Fresno City College for 1 year. (Went into U.S. Army for 4 years until July, 1974)
4. Went back to Fresno and attended CSUF & got B.A. In Journalism in 1978
5. Left Fresno in 1982 for job transfer with Air Cal airlines to Torrance, Ca; 1985 transferred to Seattle, Wa.

Haven't live in Fresno since 1982. I do miss it a lot, though. Too many great memories.
