The Pleasanton Cafe

by shirleyken » Sat Feb 16, 2019 2:20 pm

In the 1930's, my parents I would often go downtown to eat at the Pleasanton Cafe. This was always a treat. For 40 cents, we got a full three-course meal which was always good. I especially remember fried oyster sandwiches. The cafe had a long row of booths with curtains for complete privacy. (Haven't seen that since) Each booth had a buzzer for summoning the waiter.
I searched but couldn't find any mention of the Pleasanton Cafe; however, there was a Pleasanton Hotel which stood on the corner of Broadway and Merced. I'm guessing the restaurant was part of the hotel but not sure.
