I attended Sierra from 1965 to 1968. Mrs Brez was my favorite teacher. I was in love with Terri Alvis and Linda Alvarez. I had my fights under the tree by Burger Chef. All of the 'firsts' that happens to a young man happened to me at Sierra. I was a bad boy.

Hello everyone! Please enjoy this rare video shot at school during 1967. Special appearances by school teachers and administrators such as by Dean of Girls, the lovely Ms Jenkins and numerous shots of the ever popular Charlie Fox, Ms Church and the Couch Thornton. But we start out with a tour of the hallway madness of checking our home locker and a couple of quick shots inside my home room. Then it outside at lunch time near the quad. Next, we head over to the McLane stadium for a track meet. Many outstanding sequence featuring three different cheer leading squads, the pep band and featured track stars. We also see the lovely Suzie McFarland and close friend, Terri Stiers mugging for the camera. Check out Bob Star and his trumpet!

I went there in 1976 when it was just 7th, 8th, and 9th grades. Mrs. Nana Jenkins (Dean of Girls/Vice-Principal) was retiring that year after having been there 17 years. Mr. Kachadoorian was Principal. I was 9th grade that year. Went to McLane next year.

I attended junior high school there for 7th, 8th and 9th grade in the early 70's. Mrs. Jenkins was the Dean of Girls and she was kind of mean! Mrs. Marashian taught the Shop class, and, of course, she was missing a couple of fingertips! Remember the 9th Grade Quad ? It was a covered area where we hung out at lunchtime. Lunches were only 45 cents! I too, remember going to Sock-Hops in the Auditorium after school. Good memories.

What a gas finding this site! Mr. Fox - I danced with the 7th grade heartthrob at a sock hop in the auditorium.
Mr. Curtis with orchestra and band had a soul patch way back then. Mr Herries taught science and - was it
Mr. Echles who taught math? My all time favorite - I think she influenced a lot of teen lives - was Miss Dorothy Leavitt.
Does anybody remember her? Lana Sawyer did the solos during the Christmas concert and I sang next to a
guy named............Bruce? on the top riser - I don't think she knew what to do with me. Did not have a great
voice (we both knew it) but I've always felt she did it to encourage me.........not in music and song necessarily
but in life. Oh - Mr. Robertson taught geography or govererment and Miss Owens had the music appreciation class.
Girls P.E. Miss Patchen and Mrs. Scholl.
Anybody know what became of Miss Leavitt? I remember our mixed chorus won at least one state competition??

Mr Thornton was there when I went to Sierra in the 7th grade before we moved to San Jose for 3 years. It was a 7th, 8th and 9th grade school when I was there.

I was at Sierra Junior High from 1977 to 1978. During my 6th and 7th grade years there I had a great time and fond memories. The Summer before 9th grade they changed the format to just 9th grade and then a few years after that it changed to Duncan PolyTechnical. During my years there the teachers I remember still are Mr. Thornton - P.E., Mr. Jones - English.

I attended Sierra Jr. High when it first opened in September 1959 as an 8th grader. My 7th grade was at Yosemite. A conglomeration of 7th thru 9th students came from all over when it opened. Some leaving friends they had gone to school with, but due to school boundaries that changed. It was great starting at a brand new school, coming up with a school symbol, the Eagle. I was fortunate enough to be the first editor of the school paper 'The Eagle'. I still have a copy of a couple of papers. Mr. Fox was the faculty advisor. I believe he taught English. Mr. Everett Smith was the head of physical education for the boys, as well as the head coach for basketball and baseball.
